Some activities occur regularly on a monthly or weekly basis, while special events are planned several times a year. Members are welcome to attend any or all activities! New activities and suggestions are encouraged.
Book Discussion Each month the group gathers to discuss in detail the particular book chosen for that month. Selections vary widely, from fiction and non-fiction, classics to the latest bestsellers, based on the interests of the current members. It's a great way to combine intellectual stimulation and socializing at the same time.
Bridge Our bridge groups welcome players of all levels. These are fun and friendly games. Morning Bridge: Twice a month, this group meets to play party bridge on Friday mornings. Intermediate Bridge: Twice a month, this group meets to play party bridge on Wednesday mornings. Advanced Intermediate Bridge: This group plays party bridge twice a month on Monday afternoons. Partners Bridge:Party bridge played the 2ndFriday evening of most months.
Discovery Once a month, our Discovery group investigates local points of interest. Recent outings include culinary tours in San Francisco, a visit to a local spa for massages,The Dale Chihuly Glass Exhibit at the de Young Museum, a tour of Berkeley's 4th Street and Rose Garden, view of Elephant seals in Ano Nuevo State Reserve, Filoli Holiday Traditions, Dickens Fair at the Cow Palace, the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit at the de Young Museum, and many more.
Ladies' Theatre Group This activity takes place on five Wednesday evenings per season. The plays are produced by TheatreWorks. We dine together before the show and afterwards attend the stimulating Discussion Wednesday Dialogues with artists from each production. This adds to an enriched theatre experience.
Lessons Periodically, the Club organizes lessons for interested members to expand their activities. Some examples include lessons for Golf, Tennis, Beginning Bridge, Intermediate Bridge, and Mah Jongg.
Let's Do Lunch This activity combines a variety of dining experiences. Some months we enjoy lunch together at a local restaurant, while other months we gather in a member's home for a potluck lunch or a gourmet cooking demonstration where we not only learn how to cook extremely well, but also sample the food.
Moveable Feast Each month the Moveable Feast committee sponsors a social event designed to welcome new members and integrate them into the club. We vary our activities to appeal to everyone. Events range in style from casual to formal, from potluck to expensive. Our goal is to offer ample social opportunities for all of our members. Recent events include Oktoberfest, Bunco Game Night, Champagne and Wine Tasting, Crab Feasts, TGIF Parties, a Clam Bake, Happy Hour at the BBC, a Potluck Sixties BBQ, a Dinner Dance at a local country club, and Dinner/Theater Evenings.
Walking the Dish
One Tuesday morning each month members meet at the "Stanford Dish" and walk the trails for an hour.
